Key Stage 4

Students will complete the options process in year 9 and study for their GCSE qualifications during years 10 and 11. Students and their parents will attend an options evening before making their initial preferences. These preferences will then be used to construct the option blocks; these blocks will be formulated so that most students can select their preferred options. Students will then select their options with their parents during a meeting with the senior leadership team.

All of our students will study English, English Literature and Maths. Most of our students will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics (single sciences—3 qualifications) and the rest will complete Additional Science (a combination of Biology, Chemistry and Physics—2 qualifications)

Most of our students will study for the English Baccalaureate which means that they will study French and either History or Geography. These students will then select two more subjects from Art, Business, Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, Food Preparation, Music, Physical Education and Religious Studies.

The rest of our students will study for the majority of the English Baccalaureate which means that they will study French or History or Geography. These students will then select three more subjects from Art, Business, Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, Food Preparation, Music, Physical Education and Religious Studies.

Students will also have the opportunity to complete a GCSE qualification in any other languages which they speak.
